The Goulding SleepTalk® Process
The Goulding Process, ‘SleepTalk® for Children’, is a wonderful, non-invasive, safe, drug-free and fast (2 minute) process that the parent or guardian conducts with their child in their home after their child has gone to sleep. It works if the parent or guardian follows it as taught and sticks with it.
SleepTalk® sets the FOUNDATION FOR LIFE for High Self-Esteem and Emotional Resilience in any child rather like ‘Happiness Insurance’. It can also improve the family dynamics for a happier, more harmonious family environment.
Benefits of the Goulding SleepTalk® Process:
- It empowers parents to help their children to achieve self-confidence and inner strength.
- SleepTalk® empowers parents to give their children positive suggestions to help with general and specific issues in their lives.
- It is a safe, ethical and non-intrusive process suitable for any family and lasts for life.
- Children’s healthcare professionals have been using the Goulding SleepTalk® process for over 40 years.
It can help children with the following issues & more:
- Being hyperactive, hard to control, nervous, agitated or explosive
- Experiencing separation anxiety, fearfulness or general lack of confidence
- Fighting with siblings or being aggressive with others
- Having trouble sleeping or experiencing nightmares
- Being stuck in habits like bedwetting or nail biting
- Struggling academically, labeled with learning disabilities, Autism/Asperger
- Feeling troubled about parental separation or other issues at home
- Not fulfilling the potential you know the child has
It has been successful in resolving all the issues mentioned above, sometimes in as a little as a few days, and has been used effectively by thousands of families around the world over the last 40 years since its founders, Joane and Jim Goulding, developed the process for their daughter, with astounding results.
Even if a child has none of those issues but the parent or guardian wants to ensure the child feels deeply loved and secure and confident and is growing up with all the right beliefs to live an empowered and productive life, then SleepTalk® is also beneficial.
Did you know that about 85% of adults suffer from poor self-esteem, resulting in such things as poor choices of partner and in failing to reach their potential? As a therapist for over 20 years I have seen thousands of clients and the common thread that I have observed time and time again is that when all the layers of distress are peeled away, what lies beneath is a core — and usually subconscious — belief of not being loved or loveable that was absorbed as truth by the subconscious mind before age five. This bears no relationship to the actual circumstances in which a person was raised, which may indeed have been in a loving household. So wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to correct any faulty beliefs in the subconscious mind of being unloved and unlovable – and therefore feeling unsafe in the world — as early as possible in a person’s life so they don’t have to endure a disempowered life of suffering later on, feeling somehow not good enough or worthy enough? Just imagine: therapists’ rooms would be empty!
“The Goulding Process is a sensible practical and easy-to-follow method of communicating important messages to the subconscious mind. This process should be used by all parents, educators and health professionals and the practice adopted in the management of all disorders in which the mind plays a significant role”
~ Professor Ian E Brighthope: Fellow, Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine.
“Children deal with trauma in a different way to adults, often not able to express what they are feeling as a result of any trauma. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is one of the most debilitating anxiety disorders, creating a number of behavioural and emotional changes in children that, if not treated properly, stay with the child for the rest of his or her life. PTSD is formed when the unconscious mind is involved in death, disaster, rape or early physical danger. SleepTalk® has been shown to be one of the most effective ways of treating such traumas in children, bypassing the normal communication methods and allowing the unconscious to let go of the intrusive thoughts, flashbacks and anger associated with such memories. Using strategies that the unconscious understands, SleepTalk® forms a direct path to the parts of the memory holding high levels of anxiety and distress, encouraging the mind to reframe the original event and strengthening the self-image and an awareness of safety. With the parents involved in the process that awareness of safety is enhanced. I highly recommend SleepTalk® for all anxiety disorders in children.”
~ Gary Johnston, Psychotherapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist, Specialist in Trauma and PTSD
“I am a qualified medical practitioner and psychiatrist. I have used the technique of SleepTalk® for many years. SleepTalk® is a safe, effective and a very valuable process. I have found it useful in my clinical practice and recommend it highly.”
~ Dr. Eileen Feeney, MB, BCh, BAO, DCH, FRANZCP, Registered MD and Psychiatrist
“I have used the Goulding process for over thirty five years. This is not a therapy and does not involve taking medications – just a commonsense approach to parenting. My daughter Monique, whose formative years benefited greatly with SleepTalk®, giving her self-confidence, security and love. Monique now uses this incredible therapy on her own children with wonderful results. One day when discussing her childhood and SleepTalk®, she told me when she was a little girl, she would sometimes hear me come into her room and would pretend to be asleep, because she loved hearing me tell her all those positive things that made her feel, peaceful, happy, loved and very safe!
Now three generations, and thirty five years later, I know my grandchildren will continue using this miraculous process to help them achieve their goals and aspirations, to teach others how a happy and healthy mind can help overcome many of life’s obstacles that maybe thrown our way.
SleepTalk® is one of the most valuable and credible processes that I have encountered in over thirty five years, and is suitable for children of all ages and stages of development.”
~ Cherie de Hass, Fellow, Australian Natural Therapies Association, Former Presenter: Healthy Wealthy and Wise, Naturopath, Author and Media Writer
“SleepTalk® is an invaluable aid for families and therapists in improving family attitudes and intimacy, the program is easily and unobtrusively implemented and can be readily adapted to suit all children and family contexts.”
~ Dr. Janet Hall, MAPsS, Clinical and Counselling Psychologist
“SleepTalk® is positive, natural, non-invasive and non-harmful treatment regime, the benefits of which can literally last forever. There is no doubt that the time is now right for the benefits of the Goulding SleepTalk® process to be disseminated more widely among healthcare professionals and the general community.”
~ Jeff Berger, BA (Psych), BTH, Grad Dip. Counselling Psychologist
Parent Feedback about Their Children
“I cannot speak highly enough of the SleepTalk® program and of Michelle. The program is now a permanent part of our lives. My two year-old and baby have received beautiful results. As a mum, there is nothing better than knowing I’m using SleepTalk® to reinforce the loving home we are creating as a family. I wish this had been taught to me in birthing class. Every parent should know about this. It’s easy to do and I can think of nothing better than my children having this as a permanent part of their childhood.” Georgina, Richmond, VIC
“Sleep talk has been a blessing to my family. I have seen my eldest daughter become more confident and cope better with life’s challenges since starting. Both my girls are much more affectionate towards me. Can’t speak highly enough of SleepTalk and Michelle’s guidance and patience throughout the whole process. She has given me the tools to help my children become more confident and caring individuals.” ~ Jenny, Park Orchards, VIC
“…SleepTalk® has been remarkable for my little boy, who was always angry/grumpy/moody, not sleeping well, felt unsafe etc. to become so happy, resilient, positive and far less anxious – this happened over night! I had exhausted all avenues in regards to “find a solution to making him better” and feel so relieved to finally find the key to his issues. I still do not know why he was the way he was as we have tried to be good parents over the years but we are grateful to have a much more harmonious household! Now I see this is what having children should be like. Thank you again.”
ANXIETY — NIGHT TERRORS — SIBLING RIVALRY:
“…Within two weeks of starting the Goulding SleepTalk® Process, my children had shown remarkable improvement. My youngest was no longer waking up with night terrors; she was sleeping the entire night in her own bed! My oldest was no longer angry each morning; she was waking up happy and content! They were no longer fighting with each other all day long. Both children started to improve in school, and by the end of the school year were earning A’s and B’s. It still brings tears to my eyes to think about how simple and impactful just 2 minutes a night could be.”
Parent Feedback about Adults with Acquired Brain Injury
“My adult son, who received severe brain injury as a result of a car accident 10 years ago, has shown marked improvement in overall happiness, relaxation and responsiveness since starting SleepTalk(R). He has even spoken a few words for the first time in 10 years! Michelle made a customized SleepTalk(R) audio for him that his carers play to him each night in the institution. I am delighted with his progress so far and would highly recommend Michelle’s professionalism in her adaptation of the SleepTalk(R) Process for ABI as well as her knowledge of disability. Not only has it improved the quality of my son’s life, but I feel there are flow-on benefits for the happiness of the whole family as well.” ~ Wendy, Ferntree Gully, VIC
“My son Scott at 19 was resuscitated following a fatal asthma attack 8 years ago that left him with an ABI, an acquired brain injury, and physically completely dependent in a wheelchair. Scott would often wake in fright in the middle of the night traumatised by his inability to talk or move and needing reassurance. With the simple introduction of SleepTalk, that takes just a minute or two to say, I have witnessed a deeper natural sleep pattern emerge and a calmer, happier awakening each day for Scott. Thank you Michelle for introducing the programme and the support you share.” ~ Marissa, Ormond, VIC
“The sleep talk program has been very beneficial for my son (32 years old) who is Autistic and has acquired brain injury due to seizures from birth. He has calmed down and is more present and aware. He is more independent and comfortable with himself and his surroundings for the first time he put on a t shirt without assistance. He has befriended someone in the respite house and plays games with him. For the first time he is enjoying the company of others and comes out to greet people when they visit. His co-ordination is better in that he can feed himself without dropping food off the spoon. He is happier and more relaxed.” ~ Julie, Frankston, VIC
